A fresh plea has been made regarding the case of a young mother who was killed following a David Bowie concert at Slane Castle almost four decades ago. Antoinette Smith vanished after attending the concert with a friend in Co Meath on July 11, 1987. The body of the 27-year-old mother of two was discovered nine months later in a drain on Glendoo Mountain in Co Wicklow.

Following the concert, they returned to Dublin by bus, reached Parnell Square around 11 pm, and visited the nearby La Mirage Discotheque. While at the club, they encountered two acquaintances and stayed with them until leaving shortly after 2 am. Ms. Smith’s friend separated from the group after leaving the club, while Ms. Smith and the two men stayed for a while before walking to a taxi rank on O’Connell Street.

The men took a taxi to Ballymun, while Ms. Smith continued walking towards O’Connell Street Bridge. She was reported missing by her husband. Ms. Smith’s children Lisa and Rachel were seven and four years old respectively when their mother disappeared 39 years ago.

Bray Garda Station officials are using the anniversary to renew their call for public assistance. They urge anyone with information to step forward, noting that people’s relationships and connections from decades ago may have changed. Authorities assure that anyone aiding the investigation will be handled with sensitivity.
