Lindsey Graham, a long-time ally of former President Donald Trump, passed away suddenly after a brief illness following a conversation with Trump. Despite their rocky history, Graham had become one of Trump’s staunch supporters, particularly in matters concerning Iran.
Graham, a controversial figure known for his strong stance on defense issues, had recently met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky before his unexpected death. Throughout his career, Graham had been vocal about US intervention overseas and had held key positions in the Senate Budget and Judiciary committees.
The South Carolina senator, who had initially criticized Trump before eventually becoming a close ally, had warned against Trump’s nomination in 2015 but later reconciled with him. Following Graham’s passing, Trump expressed his sorrow, describing Graham as a part of his family.
World leaders, including Zelensky and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, mourned Graham’s death, highlighting his dedication to freedom and global security. Graham is believed to have suffered a cardiac arrest at his home in Capitol Hill shortly after speaking with Trump on the phone. There were no prior signs of illness before his sudden passing.
