A renowned London pizzeria, Napoli on the Road, owned by acclaimed chef Michele Pascarella, has secured the prestigious title of Europe’s No.1 Pizzeria for the third consecutive year. This accolade was bestowed by the esteemed 50 Top Pizza guide, a globally recognized authority in the realm of pizzerias.
Pascarella, a recipient of the Best Pizza Maker in the World 2023 award, showcased his culinary prowess with the acclaimed Ricordi d’Infanzia pizza, which was honored as the Best Pizza in the World 2025.
Despite the traditional association of top pizzerias with Naples, Napoli on the Road has proven itself as a formidable contender in the pizza realm, bringing the essence of Neapolitan pizza excellence to London.
The restaurant’s Soho branch, the latest addition to its portfolio, offers a modest yet tantalizing menu reminiscent of authentic Italian pizzerias. While they do serve classic pizzas, their ‘Pizza NoTR’ specials, denoting Napoli on the Road, feature innovative and signature creations that captivate the palate.
During a visit to the establishment, classic choices like the Margherita and the renowned Ricordi d’Infanzia, a delectable combination of slow-cooked beef ragu, Parmigiano fondue, basil, and oil, were sampled. The menu also boasts intriguing options like the Cheesewick, showcasing a blend of premium cheeses and flavorful ingredients.
The restaurant’s ambiance mirrors a classic Italian eatery, with an industrial-chic decor featuring exposed concrete walls, wooden furnishings, and ambient lighting. To cater to a larger clientele, a downstairs seating area complements the cozy dining space.
The pizzas, characterized by thin bases and chewy crusts, uphold a standard of excellence in both texture and flavor. Noteworthy was the Ricordi d’Infanzia, a unique fusion of lasagna and bolognese flavors atop a pizza base, delivering a nostalgic yet innovative taste experience.
Inspired by childhood memories, Michele Pascarella’s creative toppings pay homage to his family’s culinary heritage, blending tradition with innovation to create memorable dishes.
While the pizzas excelled in taste and quality, some structural challenges were noted, with toppings prone to falling off due to the thin base—a characteristic common in Neapolitan-style pizzas.
In addition to the exceptional pizzas, traditional Italian desserts like Tiramisu and Ricotta sponge cake, along with antipasti offerings, provide a well-rounded dining experience at Napoli on the Road.
On the global stage, Napoli on the Road’s consistent excellence places it among the top pizzerias worldwide, reaffirming London’s position as a hub for exceptional culinary experiences.
