US President Donald Trump has finally spoken out after the United States was eliminated from the FIFA World Cup being jointly hosted on home turf. Trump refrained from commenting specifically on the team’s loss to Belgium in the round of 16, which took place in Seattle on July 6.
In a post on Truth Social following the match, Trump highlighted the strength of the United States Military, emphasizing its unparalleled power and historic recruiting achievements. He stressed the need to maintain this military strength by passing Reconciliation 3.0 upon Congress’s return, allocating $350 billion for defense along with THE SAVE AMERICA ACT.
While Trump discussed the importance of the “Save America Act,” he did not address the country’s defeat in the World Cup. This silence follows his recent conversation with FIFA President Gianni Infantino regarding a red card issued to USMNT’s Folarin Balogun during the Round-of-32 game against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
After Trump and Andrew Giuliani, the executive director of the White House’s World Cup task force, engaged in discussions with Infantino, the automatic suspension for Balogun’s red card was postponed. FIFA announced the suspension of the punishment, allowing Balogun, the leading goal-scorer for the US team, to participate in future matches.
Trump later expressed his gratitude to FIFA on Truth Social, appreciating the reversal of the red card decision as a correction of a perceived injustice.
