Freeview is undergoing further changes as the television service has recently revamped its program guide, including repositioning some channels and giving one a new name. Notably, a channel is shutting down, impacting Freeview users by removing its access.
The announcement states that Talk (Ch 280) will no longer be part of Freeview. This British news channel, known for its focus on debate, opinion-led journalism, and politics, featuring well-known presenters like Jeremy Kyle, Mark Dolan, and Kevin O’Sullivan, originally launched in 2022.
Viewers interested in watching Talk will now have to use the official Talk app or access it through various platforms such as Samsung TVs, Roku devices, and LG screens.
What other alterations are in store?
Freeview’s latest update reveals that Wedotv Big Stories on channel 275 will be rebranded as Wedotv. Additionally, there are changes in channel placement with three services moving to new slots on the planner.
Kids content on Ketchup TV, Ketchup Too, and Cartoon Classics will all be relocated; for instance, Ketchup TV will shift from Ch 209 to Ch 208, while Ketchup Too will move from Ch 210 to Ch 209.
Previously found on Ch 214, Cartoon Classics can now be accessed on Ch 210.
“On 25th June 2026, some broadcasters will be modifying their channels,” Freeview confirmed.
“Channels on Freeview are constantly evolving as individual channels make decisions to relocate, add, or remove channels. Freeview ensures that audiences can enjoy a diverse range of content.”
To ensure that your TV receives all the correct channels, adjustments must be made in the settings.
“You will need to retune your TV to keep your channels and TV Guide up to date,” Freeview advised.
STEPS TO RETUNE YOUR TV
• Press the menu button on your TV remote control or box
• Choose ‘set-up’, ‘installation’, ‘update’, or a similar option. If prompted for a password, the default code is typically ‘1234’ or ‘0000’.
• Select ‘first-time installation’ or a similar option to initiate the retuning process.
