Two England supporters, who had attended the World Cup in Mexico City, shared their harrowing ordeal. Jo Lewis and Gary Taylor recounted a frightening experience at an official FanFest, urging caution to fellow fans attending England’s round of 16 match.

Jo expressed her fear for her safety, while Gary, a seasoned attendee of Spurs and England games, labeled Mexico City as the most distressing match location he had ever encountered. The duo spoke out after three Mexican fans tragically lost their lives during exuberant celebrations following a victory over Ecuador, leading to overcrowding and chaos in the capital.

Describing chaotic scenes at the Fanfest, the couple emphasized the lack of adequate policing, security, and organization compared to events in the United States. Jo, 44, detailed the distressing moments of being caught in a crush of people, emphasizing the lack of assistance and safety measures.

Gary, 64, highlighted the overwhelming crowds and disorganized entry points to the fanzone, recounting the chaotic atmosphere they encountered. Despite the challenges, the couple remains committed to attending every England game and holding tickets for the potential final match in New York on July 19.

They are set to join thousands of Three Lions supporters in Mexico for an upcoming match, expecting a passionate and frenzied atmosphere. The match is scheduled for 1 am UK time on Monday, with England arriving two days prior to the game. Previous incidents, such as disrupting opponents’ sleep with fireworks, have added to the intense anticipation surrounding the upcoming match.
