The Princess of Wales has shared a heartfelt message during a significant week related to her royal engagements. Kate, in recognition of Children’s Hospice Week, has praised the vital role that hospices play in supporting children and families to cherish every moment. She emphasizes the importance of these hospices as “joyful and nurturing environments” that serve as lifelines for those facing life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones.

As a royal patron of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) and Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice in South Wales, Kate highlights the valuable work of children’s hospices, with Children’s Hospice Week organized by Together for Short Lives, a charity dedicated to children’s palliative care.

In her message, Kate expresses, “Every child deserves a childhood filled with joy, love, and lasting memories. As a Patron of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices and Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice, I have witnessed firsthand how these hospices enable babies, children, and young people with serious illnesses to experience these moments.”

She further adds, “Children’s hospices provide a nurturing and joyful space where children can simply be children; to play, learn, express themselves, and connect with others.”

Kate emphasizes that hospices offer families a compassionate and supportive environment to come together, find strength, and receive expert care from dedicated professionals through every stage of a child’s life, even through bereavement.

Children’s hospices serve as places that foster connections among children, families, communities, and hospice staff, nurturing each child’s individuality. By shedding light on the exceptional work of hospices, families can overcome the fear of losing hope and understand that care begins well before the end.

Kate encourages everyone to appreciate the countless ways in which children’s hospices positively impact the lives of children and families, recognizing the transformative effect of the caring environment they strive to create.

Nick Carroll, CEO of Together for Short Lives, expressed gratitude to Kate for her ongoing support of Children’s Hospice Week and children’s hospices nationwide. He highlighted the crucial role of children’s hospices in providing expert care and support to families throughout various stages of their journey with a child’s illness.

Kate’s message coincides with her recent attendance at the Garter Day procession at Windsor Castle, where she shared joyful moments with her husband, William. She participated in the procession, observing the Knights of the Order of the Garter, and radiated warmth and elegance in her attire, engaging with the public and fellow attendees.

The enduring support of figures like Kate is instrumental in raising awareness and ensuring that families receive the care and compassion they need during challenging times, making every moment count.
