At least 17 individuals were injured when a tourist train overturned in Cartama, Spain. The incident occurred around 9:30 pm local time on Saturday, prompting emergency response teams to quickly arrive at the scene, located approximately 10 miles from Malaga.

Images from the site display the train’s carriage on its side along Santo Cristo road. While the exact cause of the accident remains unknown, authorities have stated that the train capsized while passing through a crossing.

Over a dozen people sustained injuries and were promptly attended to by emergency personnel. Following the incident, four individuals, including three children, were transported to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, none of the injuries are deemed severe.

Reports indicate that about 30 passengers were on board the train when it tipped over. As a result, the train service has been halted for the weekend, and law enforcement has initiated an investigation into the incident.

The tourist train was in operation as part of the local event known as la Ruta de la Tapa y el Coctel, which encourages visitors to explore various businesses in the city and sample their offerings. This annual festival runs from June 10 to June 14, with the train making stops at different venues as tourists receive a map detailing the locations.

Cartama is situated near two popular destinations frequented by British tourists, namely Malaga and the renowned resort town of Marbella.
