National Highways has reported that the closure is led by Avon & Somerset Police, with southbound traffic being turned around. Drivers are experiencing delays of up to 60 minutes in both directions. One driver mentioned a lack of communication during a nearly two-hour standstill on the M5. Normal traffic conditions are not expected to resume until 11:30 pm, according to National Highways.
