A 16-year-old teenager is in critical condition after he fell from a moving train while attempting a dangerous “train-surfing” stunt in Sydney, Australia. The incident took place between St Peters and Sydenham stations in Sydney’s inner west on Saturday, June 13.

The boy was riding on the outside of a moving train when he fell from the side of a carriage onto the tracks. New South Wales Ambulance workers provided immediate treatment for serious head and arm injuries before transferring him to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

According to news.com.au, the teenager remains in critical but stable condition. NSW Police stated that the boy fell from a train compartment onto the tracks, prompting an investigation into the incident, which caused significant disruptions to rail services.

The Daily Telegraph reported that the incident occurred on a Tangara model train, also known as a T-set, which has been a focal point of a government crackdown on the “train-surfing” trend. The New South Wales government previously announced plans to equip all double-decker T-set trains with anti-surfing devices by the end of 2026.

Authorities are actively looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident as they work to ensure the safety of passengers and prevent similar incidents in the future.
