The UK is set to experience heavy rain and wintry weather today, with a rain band moving across the country from the Atlantic.

The Met Office has issued a forecast indicating that various parts of the UK will be hit by rain that may become heavy locally at times. The forecast mentioned, “Expect a wet and rather windy day as rain spreads towards the east, becoming heavy locally before easing later. It will feel humid under widespread cloud cover, with conditions turning drier in the evening.”

According to Claire Nasir from the Met Office, a rain band originating from the Atlantic has moved in overnight and is progressing eastward throughout the day. The wind is also expected to intensify in the west and south, with chances of heavier rain showers.

Friday will see cloudy conditions, intermittent rain showers, and a fresh breeze across the UK before warmer weather arrives from the southwest over the weekend.

The upcoming weekend is predicted to bring mostly dry weather with sunny intervals and increasing temperatures, although some regions in the north may still experience rain showers on Saturday.

Brighter and warmer weather is expected to move in from the west, leading to dry conditions in England and Wales on Saturday. Showers are likely to persist in Scotland and northern England on Saturday, followed by a drier Sunday across the UK.

Temperatures could reach up to 26°C in the southeast on Sunday afternoon, with high levels of grass pollen anticipated over the weekend.

Netweather.tv’s separate forecast also indicates the arrival of clouds and rain in the UK today, with significant rain anticipated on Thursday.

Weather expert Jo Farrow mentioned on the website that Thursday is expected to be wet due to a low-pressure system bringing prolonged rain across the UK, followed by wet and windy conditions before the rain clears, with temperatures remaining below average.
