“Man Sentenced to Prison for Brutal Stabbing and Assault”

A man named Joshua Moore, aged 21, has been sentenced to prison for a violent attack where he stabbed a man multiple times and kicked a woman in the face. The incident occurred in Sturminster Newton on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. The woman, who was acquainted with Moore, suffered bruising around her right eye during the assault.

According to Dorset Police, a male friend of the victims, both in their 30s, intervened in the situation and was stabbed by Moore with a four-inch lock knife, resulting in three stab wounds to his body and arm. He was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.

After the altercation, Moore fled on foot but was eventually located at a hotel in Petersfield, Hampshire, on Thursday, October 2. He had altered his appearance by dyeing his blond hair jet black in an attempt to evade capture.

Following his arrest, Moore, a resident of Weymouth, was charged and later found guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and assault by beating. On Friday, June 5, 2026, he was sentenced to five years in prison. Detective Constable Emma Oram from Dorset County CID emphasized the severity of the attack, highlighting the potential fatal consequences of such violent actions.

The police department remains dedicated to combating knife crime and ensuring accountability for offenders. Through a thorough investigation, the authorities were able to locate Moore even after he had left the county, ensuring justice was served for his crimes.
