The family of a mother of five, currently hospitalized in Gran Canaria due to sepsis, is eager to reunite her with her children. Emily Casey, 34, fell ill during a holiday on the Canary Islands with her husband and kids. Just three days into their trip, Emily faced breathing issues and was swiftly taken to a local hospital.
Initially suspected to have a lung blood clot after recovering from pneumonia, a CT scan revealed a recurrence of pneumonia with fluid-filled lungs requiring drainage. While Jamie, her husband, tended to their children at the hotel, he later found Emily in a coma on life support. Concerned, he reached out to family members for help, with Emily’s mother flying to Gran Canaria to assist.
Upon the end of their holiday, Jamie returned to the UK with their children to arrange care and later flew back to Gran Canaria to be by Emily’s side. Regrettably, Emily’s condition deteriorated with the onset of sepsis and a worsened pneumonia state, necessitating urgent medical attention.
After over three weeks in the hospital, Emily is conscious but intermittently sedated. The family is desperate to bring her back home to her children and has initiated a fundraising campaign to cover the costs of a medical flight back to the UK, aiming to raise £50,000.
To support Emily’s journey home, a GoFundMe page has been established. Contributions can be made online. The family seeks assistance from the community to reunite Emily with her children – Summer, Oscar, Isabelle, Sophia, and Willow.
