Residents in Massachusetts were startled by a sudden loud noise resembling an explosion, attributed by meteorologists to a passing meteor. The event, which occurred around 2:30 pm EDT on Saturday, was heard across Boston, Ipswich, and Johnston in Rhode Island. Satellite data indicated that the meteor entered the atmosphere near Boston’s South Shore.

Spaceflight meteorologist Nick Stewart mentioned that the unusual sound was likely caused by a significant bolide or meteor entering the atmosphere. Similarly, NBC10 meteorologist Pamela Gardner suggested the occurrence could be associated with a bolide or meteor, based on data from the GOES-19 satellite. No thunderstorms or earthquakes were reported in the area at the time.

The incident was described as a breaking news story, with readers encouraged to stay updated on similar events in the future by following various online platforms for news alerts.
