A family is facing a £35,000 bill to repatriate their deceased relative, a young Brit named Annie Evans-Lewis, who tragically passed away in Australia after suffering a seizure while driving. Annie, 21, originally from Wales, incurred fatal injuries when her car veered off the road near Perth and collided with a tree.
Doctors informed Annie’s family that she had a seizure while behind the wheel, leading to the fatal crash. Described by loved ones as “energetic, chaotic, and hilarious,” Annie’s sudden death has left them in deep sorrow.
To bring Annie back to Wales for a funeral, a fundraising campaign has been initiated to cover expenses such as repatriation costs, funeral services in Australia, and flight arrangements for family members. The GoFundMe page organized by Annie’s cousin Emily Davies has surpassed its initial target of £35,000, raising close to £40,000.
Annie’s mother, Angharad, and aunt, Tanta, along with their cousin Anthony, have already traveled to Australia. Expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support, Emily mentioned that the donations would first cover funeral home fees and repatriation expenses.
Annie’s boyfriend, Cai, who was with her during the tragic incident, recounted their plans for a future together. Cai, 22, expressed profound loss, stating, “She was everything and with her gone, I don’t know what to do with myself.”
Angharad fondly remembered her daughter as her “whole life,” reflecting on the cherished memories they shared. The family continues to appreciate the outpouring of support, acknowledging the community’s generosity in honoring Annie’s memory.
