A deceased man was discovered on Rottingdean beach in Brighton, adding to the recent sorrow in the seaside town following the tragic deaths of three sisters just over two weeks ago.

Sussex Police confirmed the finding of the man’s body on Friday morning, with ongoing investigations at the scene and a cordoned-off area.

According to a spokesperson for the police, authorities responded to the report of a man’s body found on Rottingdean beach on May 29. The man’s identity remains unconfirmed, and inquiries are underway to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The discovery on Rottingdean beach occurred after the recovery of three bodies from the sea near Madeira Drive on May 13, identified by Sussex Police as Jane Adetoro, Christina Walters, and Rebecca Walters from the Uxbridge area of London.

An inquest into the sisters’ deaths commenced at Woodvale in Brighton, revealing that post-mortem examinations have yet to determine the cause of death.

Senior coroner Penelope Schofield conveyed condolences to the sisters’ father, Joseph Jacobson, during the online hearing, acknowledging the immense grief he must be experiencing.

Details presented at the inquest mentioned that the sisters were found in different circumstances – Jane Adetoro was brought to shore by an RNLI crew, while Christina Walters was rescued from the sea by an RNLI lifeboat, and Rebecca Walters washed ashore on Brighton beach. Medical investigations are ongoing to establish the cause of their deaths.

The inquest highlighted that the sisters resided together in Greenford, west London, and their occupations were undisclosed. The coroner expressed hope that the hearing’s information would dispel social media speculation surrounding their deaths and adjourned the inquest for further proceedings in October.

Following the tragic events, the sisters’ father shared his grief, emphasizing the cherished memories and lasting impact his daughters had on their family. A fundraiser initiated by the family to cover funeral expenses and provide support has raised close to £44,000.
