Luke Littler recently shared that he extended an invitation to Prince William for the upcoming PDC World Championship at Alexandra Palace. The 19-year-old met the Prince at Windsor Castle, where he was honored with an MBE for his exceptional talent in darts.
During their conversation, Littler mentioned that Prince William expressed interest in attending an event at Ally Pally, describing it as a promising night out. The renowned two-time world champion also welcomed the future king to join the tournament.
Reflecting on the interaction, Littler stated, “Prince William mentioned his interest in the darts scene’s growth. While I didn’t formally invite him, I believe either myself or the PDC could arrange tickets for him if needed.”
Known for his passion for football, Prince William celebrated Aston Villa’s victory in the Europa League, hailing the team’s success on social media. Villa’s defender, Matty Cash, revealed the Prince’s jubilation, highlighting his loyal support for the team.
Whether Prince William will develop a similar enthusiasm for darts remains uncertain. Nonetheless, Littler described the opportunity to converse with him as an extraordinary experience. Recounting his MBE acknowledgment alongside notable personalities like Cynthia Erivo and Matt Lucas, Littler expressed gratitude for the recognition of his contributions to the sport.
Looking ahead, Littler is focused on competing in the Premier League Darts to secure his second title. His upcoming semi-final match against Gerwyn Price is anticipated to be a thrilling encounter, with the winner advancing to face either Jonny Clayton or Luke Humphries in the final.
Expressing his aspirations, Littler shared, “Achieving a third consecutive final would be a significant feat. While some may anticipate a final showdown between Luke and myself, our consistent performance speaks for itself.”
