An infant just eight days old was swiftly taken to the hospital following a car accident that caused the vehicle to overturn in Gloucestershire. The incident occurred when a Peugeot 308 veered into the barrier on the M50 between junctions 1 and 2, leading to the rollover around 6:15 am on Monday. A 37-year-old female driver was apprehended on suspicion of operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol after a thorough investigation by the authorities.
The woman behind the wheel, in her thirties, was transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for medical attention, while the newborn baby was conveyed to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for specialized care.
Due to the necessary accident recovery and police inquiries, drivers experienced significant delays on the road. A section of the eastbound M50 remained closed to facilitate repairs to the barrier. Traffic congestion persisted for hours as emergency responders managed the situation.
Authorities are now seeking witnesses to the crash. A representative from West Mercia Police urged anyone who witnessed the collision or possesses dashcam footage leading up to the event to come forward.
