Carol Vorderman is requesting an apology from Reform’s candidate in the by-election as calls grow for Nigel Farage’s party to withdraw its support. Robert Kenyon is facing criticism for inappropriate comments about the former Countdown star shared on a now-deleted online account. Vorderman and others are demanding an apology for the abusive behavior. Meanwhile, Reform MP Danny Kruger acknowledged the inappropriateness of the remarks but defended Kenyon, stating they were private comments from an ordinary individual.

Vorderman strongly refuted Kruger’s stance, emphasizing that Kenyon’s actions were cowardly and unacceptable. She highlighted that online abuse should not be tolerated, especially by a political party. Kenyon’s past social media posts have overshadowed Reform’s campaign for the upcoming Makerfield by-election against Andy Burnham.

Criticism has been mounting against Kenyon, with concerns raised about his disrespectful and sexist remarks. Political figures like Louise Haigh have called for his immediate removal as a candidate, citing his unsuitability for public office. Despite the backlash, Kruger defended Kenyon, stating that the comments were made in a different context and that he has shown regret for his actions.

A Reform UK spokesperson reiterated their support for Kenyon, emphasizing his local roots and potential as a Member of Parliament. However, various political figures, including senior Tory MP Alicia Kearns and Labour Party chair Anna Turley, have condemned Reform’s handling of the situation. The ongoing controversy surrounding Kenyon’s past behavior has sparked a debate on political judgment and candidate suitability for public office.
