Millions of Nationwide clients are set to discover this week whether they will be receiving an additional £100 Fairer Share bonus. The financial institution has been granting £100 bonus payments to millions of customers annually for the past three years. The decision on the 2026 bonus payout is expected to be revealed on Thursday, along with the release of the latest full-year financial results.

Nationwide will also disclose the specific eligibility criteria for the one-time bonus payment. In previous years, customers needed a qualifying current account, in addition to either a savings account or a mortgage with Nationwide. For savings accounts, a minimum balance of £100 was required, while mortgage customers had to have a remaining balance of at least £100 by the end of March.

Customers with FlexOne, FlexStudent, or FlexGraduate accounts were required to have either received or made a payment in March. However, this condition did not apply to those who had completed a switch to their account using the Current Account Switch Service between January and March. FlexAccount, FlexDirect, or FlexBasic account holders needed to have received £500 in their account for two out of the three months of January, February, and March, along with making specified payments out of their account.

It is essential to note that the exact qualifying conditions may vary from previous years, but the 2025 criteria provide a general guideline. If the Fairer Share bonus is confirmed and individuals meet the criteria, the bonus will be automatically deposited into their Nationwide account. Last year, Nationwide introduced the Fairer Share scheme in May, and payments were distributed in June and July.

The bonus money is categorized as savings for tax purposes, and individuals can earn up to £1,000 in savings interest per tax year before tax obligations arise. Nationwide distributed £400 million to over four million customers last year, following a record statutory profit before tax of £2.3 billion. The previous year, the institution awarded £385 million to 3.85 million individuals.
