A man expressed regret to his family for fatally stabbing his mother at least 14 times. He also launched a violent assault on his father, leaving him in critical condition. Danny Heyneman, aged 33 and one of five siblings, broke down in court as family members recounted the pain caused by the loss of their “loving and caring” mother, Annie Heyneman.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that the defendant has displayed signs of depression and a history of substance abuse but does not have a severe mental illness. Heyneman’s siblings and father shared how Annie had touched many lives with her kindness and dedication to helping others, both in her community work and as a caregiver for disabled adults.

In an emotional statement prepared by Heyneman’s siblings, they highlighted their mother’s love for life and her special ability to make everyone feel valued. Their father, Henk Heyneman, expressed unconditional love for all his children, including the defendant, who was allowed to live with them without any expectations.

Heyneman’s legal representative, Keith Spencer BL, conveyed the deep remorse felt by his client, who wrote a heartfelt apology expressing sorrow, grief, and guilt for the tragic events. Despite wanting to read the letter himself, Heyneman found it too difficult after hearing his family’s words of pain.

Following his guilty plea to murdering his mother and attempting to murder his father, Heyneman faces sentencing on June 2. The court learned that Heyneman’s return home after completing an accountancy course was followed by concerning behavior, leading to psychiatric care admissions. His escalating paranoia and alcohol abuse culminated in the fateful events of January 11, 2025.

Henk Heyneman’s harrowing account of the attack on him and the loss of his wife underscored the devastating impact on the family. Heyneman’s defense team waited for psychiatric evaluations before the guilty plea, seeking clarity on any potential mental health issues. With the findings ruling out severe mental disorder, Heyneman promptly admitted his culpability.

The court session shed light on the extent of the tragedy, with Annie Heyneman suffering fatal stab wounds and Henk Heyneman enduring multiple injuries. The trauma inflicted on the family was palpable, with Henk recalling the haunting image of his wife and son’s violent actions.
