Spanish police have apprehended the son of the wealthy creator of the renowned fashion label Mango following his fatal fall from a cliff during a mountain hike. Isak Andic, aged 71, met his demise in December 2024 while trekking with his 45-year-old son Jonathan Andic near Barcelona. Initially deemed accidental, the investigation into Isak’s death was reopened in March 2025, and authorities have now suggested foul play may be involved.

Jonathan Andic, the eldest son and sole companion on the hike with his father, was arrested by Catalan police this morning on suspicion of being linked to Isak’s death. He was taken to court facilities in Martorell for further investigation. The incident took place near the Collbato Caves in the Montserrat mountain range, where Jonathan claimed his father fell off the edge while they were on the Les Feixades trail, which was previously considered safe for hikers.

Law enforcement officials have cast doubt on Jonathan’s account, stating that forensic evidence contradicts his version of events and labeling his statements inconsistent. Reports indicate that Jonathan had visited the same trail a few days prior to the incident, allegedly to prepare for the hike. Jonathan Andic, a key figure in Mango as the vice chairman of the board and one of Isak’s heirs, has been interrogated over his father’s death, although the family maintains his innocence.

Isak Andic, who migrated from Turkey to Spain in his youth, laid the foundation for Mango’s success by establishing its inaugural store in Barcelona in 1984. Today, Mango boasts an extensive presence with 2,900 stores across 120 global markets. The fashion brand achieved a record revenue of nearly 3.8 billion euros in 2025, marking an 11% surge from the previous year.
