The incident, which occurred on May 3 in Sterncourt Road, claimed the lives of the woman, identified as Jo Shaw, aged 35, and her former partner, Ryan Kelly, aged 41. The Avon and Somerset Police disclosed that a call reporting a domestic-related incident was received from inside the property less than 20 minutes prior to the explosion.

Witnesses informed authorities that Kelly entered the residence carrying what appeared to be a grenade, leading to the fatal detonation. The coroner’s officer revealed that a preliminary post-mortem report indicated Ms. Shaw’s cause of death as blast injuries. The coroner adjourned the proceedings to gather more information from various parties, scheduling a future inquest hearing. In a heartfelt tribute, Ms. Shaw’s family described her as a warm, kind-hearted individual and a devoted mother who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect her loved ones.
