Gary Glitter is seeking freedom once again as he faces a new review by the Parole Board. The notorious pop figure, who was previously denied release after admitting to posing a threat to young girls, may have a chance to return to the community pending the outcome of this latest hearing.

Formerly known as Paul Gadd, Glitter’s bid for freedom was rejected two years ago when he acknowledged his dangerous tendencies and agreed to remain incarcerated. The Parole Board’s recent decision to review his case signals a potential opportunity for release after a panel of experts evaluates the situation.

Reports indicate that Glitter had enrolled in a prison sex therapy program earlier this year, potentially indicating progress towards rehabilitation. However, concerns linger over his past behavior, as he was convicted in 2015 for sexually abusing minors and subsequently breached his release conditions in 2023.

If he fails to secure release, Glitter could face imprisonment until 2031, with the possibility of serving his full sentence. Currently held at HMP Channings Wood in Devon, he continues to face legal challenges related to his finances, including attempts to seize his assets to pay damages owed to a victim.

Despite ongoing efforts to address his deviant behavior, assessments have shown that Glitter maintains an inappropriate interest in young females and exhibits attitudes supportive of child abuse. His reluctance to engage in rehabilitation programs and history of inappropriate actions raise concerns about his potential to reoffend if released.

The Parole Board emphasizes that decisions regarding Glitter’s release are based on public safety considerations and the impact on victims. The panel will carefully review all relevant evidence, including his criminal history and any signs of behavioral change, to determine the level of risk he poses to the community.
