A resident known as a ‘nightmare neighbour’ has been forced to leave their home following a prolonged period of harassment against a couple in Scotland. Chris and Amy Masterson expressed relief as the individual, who had made threats including a potential petrol bombing, was evicted by the local council.

The Mastersons diligently recorded the ongoing abusive behavior of their neighbor over nearly two years using a doorbell camera. The troubles began when the troublesome neighbor, identified as Peter Ferguson, moved into their street in Forth in 2024.

Living in constant fear, the couple, parents of two, endured verbal abuse and threats from Ferguson towards them and any visitors they had at their home. Despite efforts to involve the authorities, Ferguson repeatedly breached the terms of an antisocial behavior order issued to him after various incidents.

Footage captured by the Mastersons showed Ferguson hurling abusive language at Amy and even threatening to petrol bomb their vehicle, leading the couple to fortify their doors for safety.

Following a prolonged period of what they described as a “toxic” situation, South Lanarkshire Council took action and confirmed the eviction of Ferguson. Chris Masterson expressed relief, stating that the presence of Ferguson had made outdoor activities unbearable due to constant abuse and threats.

The couple, who had previously enjoyed a peaceful living environment in Forth until Ferguson’s arrival, faced significant challenges due to the ongoing harassment. Chris, dealing with mobility issues post-stroke, feared for the safety of his family in light of Ferguson’s escalating behavior.

Ferguson’s disruptive actions, including late-night disturbances and property damage, led the couple to numerous court appearances over the past two years, taking a toll on their mental well-being. They are now grateful that the situation has been resolved with Ferguson’s eviction.

South Lanarkshire Council confirmed the eviction proceedings at Lanark Sheriff Court on February 23, 2026, and stated that an antisocial behavior order against the former tenant remains in effect.
