After surviving the Golders Green terror attack, a father of six, Shloime Rand, has made a remarkable recovery and has been released from the hospital. During an interview at his residence in north London, Shloime revealed that doctors informed him that if the wound had been slightly closer to his heart, it could have been fatal. Fortunately, he only required four stitches and won’t need to return to the hospital for two weeks. Despite the ordeal, Shloime expressed gratitude for being alive, emphasizing the significance of the event.
His six children, ranging from ages 2 to 13, attentively listened as Shloime recounted the incident. He mentioned that it was his first visit to Golders Green in two months. Initially, paramedics seemed concerned about his condition, with a helicopter landing nearby. Upon arrival at the hospital, medical professionals reassured him that the situation was better than anticipated, and he underwent an x-ray, CT scan, and received four stitches.
Reflecting on the incident, Shloime highlighted the importance of gratitude and expressed concerns about the prevalence of negativity in society, particularly regarding anti-Semitism and education. He mentioned that the community’s resilience should not be undermined by violence. Shloime declined a visit from Sir Keir Starmer, indicating his focus on a forthcoming hospital check-up.
In a separate visit, Rabbi Levi Schapiro from the Jewish Community Council in Stamford Hill shared an anecdote about Shloime’s eldest son being unaware of his father’s hospitalization, causing distress among the children. The family emphasized the need for tangible actions in combating anti-Semitism over mere symbolic visits from political figures.
