“FCDO Updates High-Risk Countries List: Travel Warnings”

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has recently expanded its list of high-risk countries, especially in the Middle East and Eastern Europe. It is crucial to be informed about which regions carry a greater risk for travelers.

Ignoring the guidance provided by the Foreign Office could lead to the nullification of travel insurance, as insurers typically do not cover individuals who knowingly disregard official advice. If travel to a high-risk area is unavoidable, seeking specialized insurance coverage from companies that cater to such circumstances is recommended by ABTA.

As of April 28, 2026, the FCDO has issued specific safety advisories for various countries. In certain instances, it issues general alerts advising against travel to unsafe countries entirely. Some regions have partial warnings in effect. Travelers should regularly check the Foreign Office website for the most up-to-date information and alerts.
