Police in Greece have apprehended a suspect following a series of shootings involving several women. The 89-year-old man was found in a hotel in the KTEL region with a loaded 38 caliber revolver, having previously used a rifle. Allegedly concealing his weapon, he reportedly carried out two separate attacks in Kerameikos, injuring four women and a man.
The suspect is said to have entered the EFKA office and shot an employee before moving to Loukareos Street in the Court of Appeals where he injured four more women. Identified as an 89-year-old refuse collector, the man was captured in the Patras area after a police manhunt. He was swiftly taken into custody by officers from the Rapid Action Police and transported to the Achaia Police Department.
Following the shootings, an EFKA employee and four female employees of the Athens Court of First Instance were taken to the hospital with similar injuries. The president of the Athens Bar Association mentioned that letters were left at the scene addressed to newspapers, with initial reports suggesting that the suspect used a modified rifle in the attacks.
Eyewitnesses reported that the suspect forced his way into the EFKA building and shot an employee before proceeding to the Athens Court of Appeals where he shot four women. After leaving the firearm on a photocopier, the suspect disappeared from the scene. Witnesses described the suspect as an elderly man in a blue trench coat, recounting the chaotic events that unfolded at the Court of Appeals.
