A fire broke out at an airbase in Gloucestershire that is currently being used by the US military. Emergency service teams swiftly responded to the incident at RAF Fairford early on Sunday, with images showing significant damage to the building’s roof.

Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries, and no RAF aircraft were harmed. However, the condition of any US equipment affected by the fire remains uncertain.

The US Air Force was granted permission by the Government to operate from RAF Fairford, located near the Wiltshire border, in response to the conflict in Iran. The airbase has been utilized by Washington to dispatch bombers for defensive actions against Tehran.

The presence of US forces at the airbase has prompted protests, with around 200 individuals gathering outside the gates. Demonstrators displayed signs with messages such as “no war on Iran,” “US out of British bases,” and “stop Trump’s deadly war.”

A spokesperson from Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service stated that they are addressing a fire in a commercial building in the Fairford area. Residents have been advised to keep doors and windows shut due to smoke resulting from the fire.
