Former President Donald Trump was captured on video appearing to lose his balance as he was assisted off the stage by security agents following a shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. The suspected gunman, identified as Cole Tomas Allen from Torrance, California, was armed with firearms and knives when he entered the Washington Hilton on Saturday night.

Amid the ensuing chaos, President Trump was swiftly escorted offstage along with other attendees. Vice President JD Vance was the first to be evacuated from the venue, while Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were shielded by agents carrying automatic weapons before being led away.

Video footage shows Trump appearing unsteady as he made his way offstage with the help of security personnel and secret service agents. Following the incident, Trump was temporarily held in the secure presidential suite at the hotel, where efforts were made to resume the event before he was advised by the Secret Service to return to the White House.

Trump later recounted that it was Melania who initially recognized the alarming situation, describing the noise they heard as “a bad noise.” Reflecting on the incident, Trump mentioned that some guests quickly grasped the severity of the situation while others did not, acknowledging the need for faster reactions.

In a White House press briefing shortly after the violence, Trump expressed his shock at the incident, emphasizing the disruptive nature of such events. The shooting occurred just outside the ballroom where the dinner was being held, interrupting the annual event that celebrates journalism and the First Amendment, a particularly scrutinized occasion as it marked Trump’s first attendance since becoming president.
