Police apprehended a woman following the tragic deaths of two young boys, aged one and three, in a residence fire in Wolverhampton. The woman, in her 30s, is currently in custody while investigations are ongoing regarding the blaze that occurred on Mason Street around 8:30 pm on Friday. Despite prompt advanced life support from ambulance medics, the children could not be saved and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other children and a woman managed to exit the house before emergency services arrived and did not require hospitalization. Authorities are collaborating with fire service personnel to determine the exact circumstances of the fire, conducting door-to-door inquiries and analyzing CCTV footage of the area.

A cordon is expected to remain in place at the scene for an extended period, as stated by West Midlands Police. DCI Kylie Westlake from the public protection unit expressed condolences, emphasizing the tragic nature of the incident and urging the public not to speculate. The arrested woman is under suspicion of causing or allowing the children’s deaths.
