A man’s body was found in a wooded area inside a suitcase, and two individuals have been brought to court in connection with a murder inquiry.
The deceased, identified as 34-year-old Dale Mundell from Islington, was located in Borstal, Kent, on Friday. This discovery followed a police response to a welfare concern call for a man at Kingfisher Court in Wimbledon the previous day.
Although no one was present at the mentioned address, authorities suspected foul play had occurred, prompting an immediate investigation. Subsequently, the body of Mr. Mundell was recovered in Kent inside a suitcase.
Following the incident, two suspects were apprehended on Friday and later appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday where they were remanded in custody. Joshua Miller, 32, from Wimbledon, faced charges of murder and obstructing a lawful burial, while Jamie Cooper, 27, residing at the same location, was charged with hindering a lawful burial.
It has been disclosed that the accused individuals had prior acquaintance with the victim, who is receiving support from specialized officers.
In an official statement, the Metropolitan Police disclosed, “The deceased man in Wimbledon has been named. Authorities were alerted to a welfare concern regarding a man at Kingfisher Court, Wimbledon, on Thursday, 9 July, at approximately 10:55 pm.”
The statement further added, “Although no individual was found at the premises, a search operation indicated potential harm had befallen someone at the address, leading to an investigation.”
