A couple from the UK is in critical condition after being caught in the deadly wildfires in Spain, sustaining severe injuries. Simon Batchelor and Lisa Fryett, residents of Canvey, Essex, were in the vicinity of the most affected areas – Bédar and Los Gallardos – when the fire started.
Rescuers managed to extract the pair from a mountainside the day following the fire outbreak. Both Simon and Lisa, who are currently hospitalized, made an emotional plea to be saved so they could reunite with their children. Their three kids have traveled to Spain to be with their parents.
To assist with emergency expenses, a fundraiser has been initiated, raising over £46,000. The family is seeking support during this challenging period. Simon and Lisa were near Bédar, Los Gallardos, Spain, when the tragic incident occurred. Despite their injuries, they expressed their desire to see their children again.
The fundraiser emphasizes the critical condition of the couple and the mounting costs of medical care and other unforeseen expenses. Donations are being collected to alleviate the financial strain on the family. Every contribution, regardless of size, will make a significant impact. Sharing the fundraiser with others is also encouraged.
The family expressed gratitude for the kindness and assistance received from the Spanish community and local residents during this crisis. They also extended their thanks to the emergency services, particularly the Guardia Civil officers, for their bravery and unwavering effort in reuniting Simon and Lisa with their children.
