Warm weather is expected to hit the UK soon, with temperatures possibly reaching 24C during a three-day heatwave across the nation. The Met Office anticipates temperatures to climb to 22C in the south and 21C in the north this weekend, but weather forecasts indicate even higher temperatures in the coming days.
According to the GFS weather model, temperatures are forecasted to reach 21C in London, Yorkshire, East Anglia, the East Midlands, and the north-west by midday on May 5. North Wales and the West Midlands could experience 20C temperatures, while Scotland and Northern Ireland may see slightly cooler temperatures.
On May 6, temperatures are expected to peak at 23C in Yorkshire, with highs of 21C or 22C across much of England. Scotland and North Wales could also see temperatures rise to 21C. May 7 is projected to be the warmest day, with temperatures reaching 24C in London, central England, and Yorkshire by 6pm. Central Scotland may experience temperatures around 20C.
The GFS model data suggests that around 58 counties in the UK could see temperatures of 20C or above during these three days, with the exception of Northern Ireland.
The Met Office’s forecast for April 29 to May 8 indicates that high pressure will likely dominate at the beginning of this period, leading to dry conditions with sunny intervals and light winds. However, as May progresses, conditions may become more changeable with the possibility of showers, longer periods of rain, and occasional strong winds. Temperatures are expected to remain near or slightly above average.
