The UK is bracing for a significant amount of rain this Thursday, as indicated by the latest Met Office weather maps. While certain regions may experience temperatures reaching up to 30C, others are expected to encounter wetter conditions.
Projections reveal a vast 500-mile stretch of rain encompassing parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Northern England, and North Wales throughout the day on Thursday. Additionally, the southern areas of England could be hit by thunderstorms later in the evening following a period of hot and humid weather.
Alex Burkill, speaking on the Met Office’s YouTube channel, mentioned the potential for thunderstorms in the southeast due to incoming hot and humid air from the south. Despite the rainy forecast for the week, the overall rainfall amounts are anticipated to be relatively low, with some areas possibly receiving over 50 millimeters of rain.
By early Thursday morning, the weather maps depict the rain band covering Ireland, Northern Ireland, and parts of West Scotland. As the day progresses, the rain is expected to move eastward, affecting regions such as North West England and the North East by midday, extending over 500 miles from North Wales to Northern Scotland.
By late afternoon, Northern Ireland is predicted to clear from the rain, while heavier showers are foreseen over Cumbria, the Pennines, and parts of the North East. This weather pattern suggests a wet day ahead for many parts of the UK.
