Two individuals have been taken into custody as part of a homicide probe in Leicester following the death of a man who was discovered with severe injuries on a street.
The incident unfolded on Compton Road early on Sunday morning, prompting emergency services to quickly respond. The East Midlands Ambulance Service reached out to the police at 6.58 am after being the first to arrive at the scene.
Upon arrival, the ambulance service found a man in his late 20s on the street, and sadly, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Later in the evening, two men aged 36 and 27 were apprehended on suspicion of murder and are presently being held by the authorities.
Throughout the day, forensic teams were observed working diligently at the scene, including the erection and subsequent removal of a blue police tent within the cordoned-off area on Compton Road near Narborough Road.
Leicestershire Police disclosed that investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances that led to the man being on the street. The man’s relatives have been located and are receiving support from trained personnel.
Detective Inspector Kevin Hames, representing the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, emphasized that the investigation is in its early phases, urging anyone with relevant information or footage to come forward promptly.
Hames stated, “We are still in the preliminary stages of this inquiry, conducting thorough investigations to ascertain the details of the incident. I urge individuals who may have witnessed or heard anything unusual in the vicinity of Compton Road to contact us. Additionally, we are interested in any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area.”
He added, “Our inquiries encompass speaking with witnesses, analyzing CCTV recordings, and conducting forensic examinations. We have stationed officers in the region and at the scene. We acknowledge the community’s concerns, so please communicate any information or worries you may have with the officers in the area.”
