Donald Trump has urged for a halt to the increasing hostilities between Iran and Israel.

On Truth Social, Trump stated that both Israel and Iran should cease their aggressive actions immediately.

Trump’s plea came after Israel conducted multiple strikes on targets in Iran today in response to missile attacks on northern Israel. The fragile ceasefire in the region appears to be on the brink of collapse, even as Trump maintained that it could still hold.

Today, reciprocal strikes caused a significant explosion in Tehran, as reported by Al Jazeera. Additionally, the Karun Petrochemical Company in Mahshahr, southwestern Iran, was also targeted, according to Iranian sources.

The Israel Defense Forces announced on X that their air force had targeted various locations within the complex.

Previously, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for attacking a petrochemical plant in Haifa, Israel, along with two military bases in retaliation.

Although a temporary ceasefire was brokered in April, the United States and Iran have yet to reach a lasting peace agreement.

Last night, the elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran asserted that the strikes against northern Israel were a response to Israeli airstrikes on Hezbollah in Lebanon.

In a statement, the IRGC stated, “In response to the widespread crimes of the usurping Zionist regime in southern Lebanon and the extensive killing and displacement of the oppressed people in various areas, including Dahiyeh in Beirut, ballistic missiles were launched at the Ramat David airbase by the IRGC Aerospace Force.”

Trump mentioned on Sunday that the recent strikes by Israel and Iran would not impact peace negotiations. He told the Financial Times, “It’s not going to affect the deal at all. We’ll see how it goes. But these attacks on Israel were not substantial.”

Shortly after his remarks, Israel launched a series of strikes on targets in western and central Iran. Amid the escalating conflict, Trump indicated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would have no option but to comply with the U.S. in peace negotiations.

Speaking to the Financial Times, Trump stated, “He will have no choice. I make the decisions. I make all the decisions. He [Netanyahu] does not make the decisions.”
