A tragic incident unfolded as a family, consisting of a mother, father, and their terminally ill nine-year-old son, plunged to their deaths from a high-rise apartment in Elephant and Castle, South London. The family, identified as Aditi, Rakesh, and Sid, resided on the 36th floor of the 45-story UNCLE tower block. Emergency services responded to the scene on May 27 following reports of the fatal fall. Despite efforts by authorities, all three individuals were pronounced deceased at the location.
Neil Coyle, the Member of Parliament for Bermondsey and Old Southwark, reached out to residents of the building the day after the tragedy. He communicated that the police were not pursuing any other individuals linked to the deaths.
In a letter to constituents, Mr. Coyle expressed his condolences, stating, “On Wednesday, May 27, a distressing incident occurred at the UNCLE building on Churchyard Row. Tragically, a child, woman, and man were found with severe injuries, and despite resuscitation attempts by emergency responders, they were declared deceased on site.”
While the circumstances surrounding the tragedy are not fully disclosed, the police have indicated that it is being treated as a suicide, with no additional suspects being sought at present. Mr. Coyle conveyed his sympathy to the family, friends, and acquaintances of the deceased, acknowledging the gravity of the situation and offering support during this difficult time.
