In a fiery late-night outburst, Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Iran, threatening extensive bombing for a prolonged period if they make any attempts on his life. The President asserted that he had already given orders to completely destroy Iran in retaliation for any assassination plots against him.
Tensions between the US and Iran have escalated once more, with President Trump declaring an end to the ceasefire between the two nations. Recent strikes on Tehran this week further exacerbate the already strained relations.
Meanwhile, Iranian demonstrators openly called for Trump’s assassination during the funeral of the late supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed earlier this year in joint US-Israeli strikes. Reports indicate that Iran has been seeking the President’s assassination since 2020, following the attack that killed Iranian military officer Qasem Soleimani.
Taking to Truth Social, Trump responded to the threats, stating that over a thousand missiles are ready to target Iran, with more to follow if necessary. He emphasized the military’s readiness to decimate Iran for up to a year, with the possibility of extension, in response to any hostile actions.
Recent intelligence from Israel warned the US of a potential assassination plot against Trump, but the President dismissed the concerns, stating that he has been a target for a long time. He mentioned leaving instructions to respond with unprecedented levels of bombing should any Iranian plot succeed.
The ceasefire agreement was suspended by Trump after Iran launched missile attacks on oil and gas vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, prompting the US to target 180 Iranian sites in renewed strikes. Following security concerns, Trump reportedly changed planes after the NATO summit, opting for an older jet as a precaution.
During the summit, Trump expressed uncertainty about the fate of current Iranian leaders and acknowledged his status as a prime target for assassination. He characterized the Iranian leadership as “scum” and acknowledged the widespread threat against him.
