A tragic incident unfolded at a popular surfing spot in Cornwall, where a woman in her 30s and a man in his 60s were found lifeless after being rescued from the water at Fistral Beach in Newquay.
Various emergency response units, including the police, coastguard, and ambulance service, were swiftly mobilized to the scene on a mission that commenced the previous night. The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) confirmed the launch of two lifeboats around 9.30 pm.
Eyewitnesses reported a significant presence of up to nine emergency vehicles at the beach, with a rescue helicopter also actively involved in the operation.
Devon and Cornwall Police have officially identified the deceased as a woman in her 30s and a man in his 60s, both pronounced dead on-site. The families of the victims have been notified of the tragic news.
Authorities detailed that the South Western Ambulance Service alerted the police around 9.45 pm on Sunday, July 26, following the recovery of the two individuals at Fistral Beach. The Coastguard, lifeboats, and a rescue helicopter were part of the extensive emergency response.
