Police in Northern Ireland have provided an update following a tragic incident involving the deaths of a woman, her daughter, and a man in what is believed to be a double murder-suicide. The bodies of a 41-year-old man, a 39-year-old woman, and an eight-year-old child, all members of the same family originally from Poland, were discovered at a residence on Old Cullybackey Road in Ballymena on Monday morning.
Authorities were alerted to the situation around 9 am and upon arrival at the scene, found the deceased individuals. The police are treating the incident as a case of “double murder followed by a sudden death.” The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has launched a murder investigation and is seeking any relevant information from the public.
Detectives from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team are leading the inquiry and have emphasized the importance of gathering information related to the tragic events. Detective Inspector Dickson confirmed that the 39-year-old woman and her daughter were victims of murder, and investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding their deaths, as well as the man’s passing.
DI Dickson assured the public that there is no immediate danger and that they are not actively seeking any additional suspects in connection with the case.
