Andrew Tate and his brother were arrested in the United States after a police investigation into multiple sexual offenses. The social media influencers, with a large following, were taken into custody in Miami on Saturday, July 18.
Andrew Tate, aged 39, and Tristan Tate, aged 38, are now in detention as 38 new charges have been authorized against them. The charges stem from allegations dating back to 2012, with previous charges already approved by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) based on evidence submitted by Bedfordshire Police.
The investigation, led by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, is ongoing, looking into additional offenses reported to the authorities. The total number of charges against the brothers has reached 59, with Andrew Tate facing 42 charges and Tristan Tate facing 17.
Assistant Chief Constable Karena Thomas emphasized the importance of allowing the legal process to proceed without speculation. The CPS has sought the extradition of the Tate brothers from the US to face prosecution for offenses including rape, trafficking for sexual exploitation, and indecent images of a child.
The alleged offenses are said to have occurred between July 2010 and August 2017, with a total of seven alleged victims identified. The CPS’s Special Crime Division head, Malcolm McHaffie, confirmed the decision to prosecute the Tates for these serious charges. The brothers are currently awaiting extradition to the UK to face legal proceedings.
