A 17-year-old teenager has tragically died after experiencing a medical incident at the Kendal Calling music festival in Cumbria.
Authorities responded to the festival grounds at 2:13 am on Sunday after receiving reports of the teenager’s distress. Despite immediate medical attention, including CPR, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.
The family of the deceased has been notified and is receiving support from specialized officers, according to the police.
Investigations into the teenager’s death are ongoing, with a focus on individuals near the ‘Calling Out’ tent and the ‘Big Wheel’ at approximately 2:00 am. Officials are particularly interested in speaking with a group of women who raised concerns about the teenager’s well-being.
A spokesperson for Kendal Calling expressed deep sadness over the incident and stated that they are cooperating with the authorities’ inquiries.
The festival spokesperson mentioned that prompt assistance was provided by on-site security and medical teams once the teenager fell ill. Paramedics and medical staff worked diligently to provide necessary care.
This year’s festival hosted over 40,000 attendees and featured renowned acts like Wolf Alice, Primal Scream, Biffy Clyro, Scissor Sisters, and Groove Armada.
In addition to the main performances, the family-friendly festival offered various stages, DJ sets, comedy shows, and a children’s area named Kids Calling.
