In Russia, authorities are investigating a circus incident where a tiger broke free during a performance, causing panic among spectators. The incident, which occurred in Rostov-on-Don, was captured on video and went viral online.
The footage shows the tiger escaping after a mechanical malfunction allowed it to breach the safety net separating it from the audience. The animal leaped into the crowd, prompting shocked reactions from onlookers who quickly vacated their seats.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene as the tiger roamed freely, with some audience members fleeing in fear. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the tiger was safely captured not far from the circus tent.
The circus director attributed the incident to an employee error and emphasized that the tigers involved are trained and not considered a significant threat. Authorities have launched an investigation into potential safety violations surrounding the incident.
Despite restrictions in many Western countries, captive animals like tigers continue to be featured in Russian circuses, including popular troupes like the Bolshoi and the Moscow State Circus.
