A Norwegian teenager who came to the UK with intentions to carry out a violent act on behalf of a Swedish criminal organization has been convicted of plotting to commit murder. The teenager, Johannes Natland, was apprehended by the police in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, where he was found in possession of two firearms and ammunition. Natland, a talented footballer, had been instructed by the Foxtrot Network, an organized crime group linked to the Iranian regime, to engage in unlawful activities.
The specific target of the criminal group, sanctioned by the UK government, remains unidentified. Following a retrial, Natland was declared guilty of conspiracy to murder by a unanimous jury decision after extensive deliberation. Despite the verdict, Natland maintained his innocence on the conspiracy charge while admitting to possessing the weapons and ammunition. Evidence presented during the trial indicated Natland’s knowledge of the intended violent act in the UK.
According to the prosecution, Natland was recruited by the Foxtrot Network, described as a Swedish criminal entity supported by the Iranian regime, known for employing young individuals for violent purposes.
