A prominent airline has announced the cancellation of flights from the UK to three popular vacation spots. Turkish airline SunExpress attributed this decision to “ongoing geopolitical developments” and the escalating price of jet fuel, leading to the temporary suspension of four routes from the UK to Turkey for the summer 2026 season.
The affected routes include Manchester to Bodrum, Leeds Bradford to Antalya, and Glasgow to both Dalaman and Antalya. Tickets for these routes are no longer available for purchase. Despite these cancellations, travelers looking to visit Turkey this summer still have alternative options. SunExpress continues to operate flights to Antalya from multiple UK airports and to Dalaman from various UK cities, excluding the UK to Bodrum service.
A SunExpress spokesperson informed Travel Gossip that due to the current volatile aviation environment characterized by significant cost hikes, especially in jet fuel prices, the airline is focusing on enhancing fuel efficiency and flight operations. Consequently, services from Glasgow and Leeds Bradford, along with the Manchester to Bodrum route, have been temporarily suspended, with adjustments made to other services as well.
The airline expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and assured UK travelers of a wide range of flight options to Türkiye from UK airports. As of now, there is no confirmed timeline for reinstating the suspended services, with updates to follow as more information becomes available.
In a related development, British Airways has postponed the resumption of flights to Dubai and other Middle East destinations until at least October, two months later than initially planned. The airline had previously announced flight reductions to key Middle East destinations following the Iran conflict, delaying the resumption of flights to Dubai, Doha, and Tel Aviv to July.
British Airways has further adjusted its flight schedule due to ongoing Middle East conflicts, pushing back the resumption of flights to Dubai, Tel Aviv, Bahrain, and Amman until after the summer season, now aiming for October 25 as the new restart date.
