Emergency services are currently conducting a search for a boy who was observed struggling in the water in Salford. Police divers have been dispatched to the River Irwell at Clifton Country Park following reports of the incident. The Greater Manchester Police stated that the situation was reported at 4:49 pm on Saturday, June 27, 2026, and that the search operation is ongoing.

Following an incident on Saturday evening, emergency teams are actively involved in the search operation this morning. The incident site is believed to be in close proximity to a sandy area near a bridge over the River Irwell at the park.

According to witnesses, a teenage boy entered the water along with other young individuals. A teenage girl was successfully rescued from the river by her companions, though she is reported to be emotionally distressed but physically unharmed. Another boy who entered the water during the incident was able to extricate himself.

Search teams were observed assessing the river conditions from a bridge earlier today. While the park is open to the public, certain paths have been cordoned off for safety measures.
