Royal Family Mourns Passing of Lady Pamela Hicks

Lady Pamela Hicks, a close friend of the late Queen who served as a bridesmaid at her wedding to Prince Philip, has passed away as confirmed by her daughter. Lady Pamela, daughter of Lord Mountbatten and a cousin of Prince Philip, was a long-time lady-in-waiting for Queen Elizabeth II. She was present with the Queen in Kenya during the transition to the throne after the death of King George VI.

In a heartfelt tribute, Lady Pamela’s daughter, India, reflected on her mother’s remarkable life and expressed gratitude for being her daughter. Acknowledging the inevitability of grief, India cherished her mother’s impeccable style, sharp intellect, and enduring charm that defined her as a cherished figure.

A spokesperson for the King conveyed deep sadness at Lady Pamela’s passing, praising her warmth, wit, and insight that left a lasting impact. Lady Pamela, born in April 1929, was a key figure in the Royal Family due to her familial connections. She played a significant role in historic events, including Princess Elizabeth’s wedding and the subsequent reign.

Lady Pamela Hicks, who married David Hicks in 1960 and had three children, remained dedicated to the late Queen throughout her life. She shared her experiences in memoirs and attended significant royal events, including the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022. Lady Pamela was also portrayed in the series “The Crown,” where her insights into royal events were depicted.
