A mother devastated by her daughter’s death due to ketamine addiction is urging for the drug to be reclassified to prevent similar tragedies. Isabelle Sapherson-Moralee, known as Izzy, passed away after years of using ketamine, suffering from severe health issues. Her mother, Ann Moralee, fought for help but felt dismissed by healthcare professionals. Ann believes that reclassifying ketamine could have saved her daughter and is advocating for stricter regulations. The UK has seen a significant increase in ketamine misuse, with a 251.85% rise since 2015. Coroner Brendan Allen highlighted the dangers of ketamine following Isabelle’s death. Despite efforts to save her, Isabelle’s condition deteriorated, leading to her tragic passing. Legal representatives emphasize the need for better understanding and management of ketamine addiction to prevent further deaths like Izzy’s. Ann’s barrister hopes that her family’s tragedy will spark positive change in drug classification and education.
