A motorist in Rome was outraged by a controversial decision made by parking officials in a well-known European tourist destination. Stefano Angeloni, an Italian resident, found himself in a predicament when he returned to his legally parked car only to discover that the white parking lines had been covertly changed to blue. This unexpected alteration led to a €29.40 fine being issued by the City Council of Rome.
In Rome, the color of parking lines designates where vehicles are permitted to park. White lines indicate free parking, while blue lines signify paid parking zones. Angeloni’s parking spot had been deceptively transformed from white to blue, resulting in the imposition of a fine on his vehicle.
In a video shared online, Angeloni expressed his frustration, highlighting the city’s questionable tactics. The clip quickly gained viral attention, amassing over a million views and sparking numerous discussions regarding the city council’s actions.
Social media users chimed in on the situation, with one suggesting a creative approach to avoid paying for parking by painting over the lines oneself. Another user pointed out that as long as the wheel is on the white line, payment may not be necessary.
Despite the widespread attention the incident received, Angeloni’s daughter clarified on Instagram that her father had inadvertently caused the viral sensation. It remains unclear whether Angeloni has challenged the parking fine issued by the City Council of Rome.
